Detailed storyboard
After putting all our initial ideas together we created a storyboard. Each box showing what shot we wanted to produce and what order and where we wanted the captions to go. We used this when we went out filming to know what scenes we needed to shoot and how we wanted to do them but as we started filming, we started changing some things as some of our original ideas we were not able to film and our ideas changed as we went along.
This is a list we made of every single shot we wanted for the beginning, the middle and the end.
Target audience
When deciding my target audience, there was many different factors I had to consider. Firstly, was the genre of the film. Our group chose horror. This will appeal to any one male or female. We then had to decide what age range to target, horror can attract people from a wide age range however as the trailer contains violence e.g. killing scenes that the age range would be between teenagers 15 years old, to people in their late 20s. As all of our characters are either 17-18.
The photo above is a picture of Danielle, Charlotte, Lauren and Lewis ranging from the ages 16- 20. They are our target audience fitting the age criteria of over 15 as that is the certificate of the film as it contains violence.
Danielle is 20 years old, she attends university and works part time in Mcdonalds. She enjoys horror films and they are her favourite genre of films. Her favourite film is The Grudge and she also likes Saw and The Desent. She enjoys socialising with friends but being a student she has to manage her money well but does like to go to the cinema often to watch horrors as she thinks there is a better atmosphere in there and she also gets student rates. Danielle shares a house with another girl and 2 other boys and they all enjoy watching films together and Danielle normally picks the films as they beleive she has a good choice in films, so if i can get my trailer to appeal to her then i hope it would appeal to a wider audience of males and females. Danielle's favourite thing about horror films are the suspense and tension that lead you to feel anxious. I hope to create that in my trailer to appeal to her.
Charlotte is 16 she attends college and also works part time in Mcdonalds. She likes more thriller type films. Her favourite film is Inception and she also likes the suspense in films and really good storylines that keep her interested and make her want to find out the ending.
Lauren is 17 and she attends sixth form and works part time in Homebase. Her favourite film genre is romance and comedy but her boyfriend encourages her to watch scary films with him so Lauren doesn't mind them if the storylines are realistic and the acting is good. So i hope i can get mine to appeal to her.
Lewis is 17 he attends college and also works part time at Mcdonalds. He is also training to be in the army and when he is not at army cadets he likes to relax with friends and watch all types of films especially thrillers/horrors as they enjoy scaring each other. So he is also the perfect target audience.
Initial ideas
We all decided as a group that we wanted to produce a horror trailer. We then started thinking and brainstorming our initial ideas.
Plot - 6 friends go on a camping trip at the end of their a levels, on the journey on the way there, the car runs out of petrol in the middle of nowhere. They have so signal so decide to just camp where they are for the night and wait until the morning to go to get help. Set up camp then all go off to get wood and other things. Each one of them starts getting killed off in a unconventional order, the clever character dies first and the blonde survives till last. At the end their is a twist and they find out the killer is a girl that they used to bully and she is now getting revenge.
Characters - We wanted to use unconventional characters. A couple, a geek (who turns out to be not clever at all), a blonde (turns out to be clever). We also decided we want to use all girls.
Location - Long road - Luittenant ellis way shot from bridge, quiet country lanes, woods for the most part of the trailer.
Film titles - Revenge, Eye for an Eye, Trapped.
